first off congratulations.
I have had a seat in the back of my car. It was forward facing and It was only used once my son was able to sit in a forward facing seat. I dont know how you would put in a rear facing seat or one of those carriers due to the small distance between the back and front seats. If you dont have airbag you could put the baby seat in the front but its generally frowned upon.
For my forward facing seat my first challenge was the width of the seat as it seems that all child seats are now made to only fit minivans and excursions the second issue was the curved back of the seat. I carved the back of the baby seat to the contour of the 944's seat. I didnt have to remove much material so I dont see how the structural integrity of the seat would have been affected. I unbolted the seat belt as there was no way to tightly hold the seat. In their place I installed anchors that are normally used for the top tie down strap. I then used the "latch" system that came with the seat to tighten the seat down. I tied the top tether strap to a rear hook in the very back of the hatch. I also ran a heavy ratcheting strap thought the middle of the baby seat, between the 944 rear seat top and bottom and to the rear hooks. Once all tightened down the seat was impossible to move and was much much more tightly secured that my other car with the proper baby seat attachment points. I never had an issue with my seat but I cant say for certain that its "safe" or "legal"
