I think Porsche called it CASIS Computer Aided Shift Indicating System if I recall correctly.
Does anyone know how the DME decides when to illuminate the light? How does it know when to shut the light off when you push the accelerator down without a throttle position sensor? Is it a rate of change in the AFM threshold?
