I have an intermediate ISAAC with quick release pins that I like very much, you can't tell that it is on while you are driving. It was developed at the same lab as the HANS device and the data for front and side impact is better. If I were racing I would have the HANS even though the R3 may be better for multiple impact situations, I hope the SFI spec will change to allow the ISAAC, there are some good reasons it should. I wore an R3 once and it felt like someone was kneeing me in the back, it would take all the fun out of being on track.
Plavan - watch the video again, the ISAAC keeps the straps in place, the HANS comes out from under the shoulder strap at which point it is worthless, a second impact would be more dangerous to the HANS user in this case. I agree though, these all have strengths and weaknesses, and the ISAAC lacks the SFI certification.
