There was an intriguing letter printed in Car and Driver, about avoiding points on your license. The trick goes like this: if the ticket is for $79, mail in $83. The court will then send you a refund for four dollars- do not cash this check. Points are only assessed after financial records are cleared, and since the state has it's money, they will never bother you about it again. This could be a load of crap, I don't know, but it sounds promising
