Well,... someone has to be the Simon Cowell of that show, Top
Gear... (actually he was Simon Cowell before Simon Cowell became Simon Cowell)
The witty but cynical nay-sayer with strong opinions and
a humourous slant is a common character of this type of show.
For Top Gear, someone (car maker) has to be the target of
some jokes... and certainly it would not be a beloved British
mark such as Jaguar or Aston Martin... rather a German mark
which is known for drivers sometimes being aloof and spoiled,
as well as the car's themselves of which engineering defies
standard carmaking is the foil. I dont begrudge Clarkston
for his choice of cannon fodder. They are in the entertainment
business after all.
