1987 Carrera
I purchased a 1987 Carrera Coupe with 74K approximately 6 months ago. The PPI only showed a few small oil leaks and a bad left rear shock. The car was immaculate!!!! Front end respray many years prior due to rock chips otherwise the original Guards Red paint was 9/10. The black interior was 9/10. No prior accidents or bodywork.
Anyways, becuase the car was 20 years old many of the rubber hoses were found to be bad when the engine was pulled to change the clutch. By the way, the 1987 cars had terrible factory clutches. Mine need a new clutch, clutch hydraulic hose, oil hoses, brake hoses, new shocks, etc the total bill was 12K. That included no engine work other than a major service. The car is know burning a quart of oil every 800 miles which means I need a valve job = 4-8K depending on the shape of the P&C's. My point is, these cars a twenty years old and parts are not cheap! Be prepared to spend some money.
Regards, Mark
