I was busted once on the Mass Pike; 96 on a 65 zone. The trooper was pretty nice, but then I hit the break down lane before he even had a chance to get into the first lane of traffic. I asked to a hearing and plead poverty. I forget the final total, but they dropped about $100 off the ticket. It was still over $200. I figured that I was speeding and should pay to play, I just didn't want (nor could afford at the time) to pay so much. Yeah, mu insurance went up, but it was my fault. I've never been stopped in CT, but I imaggine the fines and insurance penilties are similar to MA.
