was it 30MPH because it's a populated area or because it's a curvy country road, state police or local? I think 26 is actually the high end of risk window with males, in other words, once you pass that age there is a potential for good drop in insurance premiums.
Try to get court date rescheduled as many times as possible and then hope the cop doesn't show. If you can get it nullified that would be the best route.
Sounds like the guy was being a prick if there was a 40 MPH sign within 50 feet or so and he still tagged you for 71 in a 30.
