I think 'classic' in this sense refers to something that is well-known and may have started some type of long-lasting trend. This would be different from my list of most desireable Porsches. Here's my list of classics in no particular order:
1. 1967 911S - the first fast 911.
2. 1973 911RS - the ultimate normally aspirated 911 and first to feature the now well-known 'Carrera' script graphics and ducktail spoiler.
3. 1975 911 Turbo - started an industry-wide turbo revolution and became an automotive icon due to the infamous 'whale tail'.
4. 550 Spyder - James Dean, 'nuff said.
5. 911 Targa - instantly recognizable. The first of its kind in 1965, a semi-convertible design copied by dozens of other manufacturers, including today's C5 Corvettes!
