I've spent a few summer months in Phx.
All I can say is this: Dry heat my ass.
When you walk out of your office and get hit in the fact with 110, 115, 120 "dry" heat, it sucks. When you get into your car after it's been sitting in 120 degree dry heat, it sucks.
Do agree, the non-Hell months are nice temps.
To be honest, I didn't care much for the vibe in Phx, the people in general, the crime, the neighborhoods, the dirt and gravel front yards, etc. Their downtown is neat, with the baseball stadium (nice one!) within walking distance.
