Phoenix and Tucson are cool places to visit, and they have nice people in general, BUT, and I really MEAN BUT:

-- Way to hot. 105 is fine, but lets be real, tons of days over 110 and 120...
-- So hot that it makes your car's interior over 130 degrees.
-- It is a "real" desert, therefore most houses do not have lawns, just gravel.
-- AC must be on NEARLY ALL THE TIME. That cannot be healthy. Just can't be...
-- Phx airport is called international, but does not really go many places, usually has to connect to a proper airport like: LAX, ATL, Dallas/FW, Denver, etc...

This is no worst than Vegas (figure that one out) or Palm Springs. At least Palm Springs is close to everything.......

Now if work is the issue, then go and develop your career there for a few years and enjoy it for a while. Any place is cool for a few years.........
