The only "real" problem that came up with the 3.2 engines was premature wear of the valve guides. Unfortunately it tends to manifest itself around 80,000 miles, which the engine in this car has not yet reached. Keep in mind that it is only a small percentage of engines that have this problem. To rebuild the heads will run you $1500-$3000 depending on how much of the labor you do. You will want to get a pre-purchase inspection to locate any problems that may be particular to this car. Overall the 84-89 Carreras are pretty bullet proof cars with few problems. From the picture the car looks great. Carrera prices have been dropping, even the 87-89 models. Good 84-86 Carreras are going in the $13K-$16K range. With the low miles that one could be in the $16K-$18K, but that really is the high end. It should be almost perfect for those prices.
