I'm considering selling my '79 930 with 30,700 miles. Wanted to see what the board thought the market might bring.
There is not much (some) of a paper trail for the car. But, every mechanic and person who has seen/worked on the car believes the odometer is right. It looks and everything feels (doors, switches, steers, etc) like a very low mileage car. Just don't have irrefutable proof on paper.
There are no performance mods to the car.
The headliner was changed from dingy white to black. The a/c has been modified with underbelly condenser, sanden compressor and a fan on the tail condenser - blows
freakishly cold! The headlights circuit was upgraded with relays, circuit breakers and H4's. And, a carrera cooler with fan replaces the trombone. There are a few other non-visible mods - like V1 hardwire, dash light fuse mod, etc. The radio & speakers are not factory - but it doesn't appear anything was hacked during the install. That's all I can remember...
The car is not a perfect museum piece. But, I can't imagine another unrestored car, with any miles/use, being in better condition. The paint shines like brand new. The interior appears to have 10-15K miles (or less) worth of well cared for wear - not 28 years. Everything (except the front headlight washers) works correctly and there are no burned out bulbs in the dash.
So, does somewhere between $30-35K sound right for this car?
Appreciate all opinions! Thanks!!
