Yes that is my photo. I shot it the Thursday before the Historics. That's when they do all the staged group shots. The 917 shot was staged by John Lamm. I happened to be in the right place at the right time and was allowed my turn up on the ladder. Just before the 917 shot I took this shot......
A lot of my stuff that year was run in the British mag
Porsche and 911 World, although they paid like crap. I've been shooting cars and racing for 30+ years now, although not much for the last 5 years or so.
I'd like a turn in the 917K, either the Gulf car or the Porsche Salzburg car. I have a thing for the 917K, probably from watching
Lemans too many times.
