Ibuprofin is only one of a class of anitinflammatory OTC drugs called NSAIDS which is short for Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs. They are all toxic to kidneys if taken to excess/too regularly, but I hear of Docs advising of them all the time. I never take them but only because they are rough on my stomach. I suspect that if you only take Ibuprofin occasionally after tennis you will be fine. Several doses daily is a way different story. For a non drug approach I strongly advise icing your knees after an afternoon of tennis... The Glucoseamine advice is good as well. Aspirin is anti-inflammatory as well...Tylenol is not...only a pain killer....but also liver toxic in high doses.
