Alleve(naproxen) is another good OTC choice. Take 2(440 mg) twice a day. They last longer than ibuprofen. ALl can be harsh on kidneys or stomach. Take with food, drink lots of fluids. Some say Chondroitin and glucosamine help, some say it is snake oil, if it helps and does no harm, why not.
You need to do two things before you injure yourself.
1. Work on your flexibility. Stretch more, upper, lower body, also abs and back. Don't just do it right before playing, do it often, every day, few times a day.
2. Do something to make your quads stronger. Stationary bike, weight program, theraband workout, whatever
