911sc air condition "smoking"?

Hi guys,

Today, I drove my beloved Betsy ('81 911sc) to the body shop to have the c2 kit installed. As is typically the case here in South Florida, I was sweating buckets inside the car and being that I had to head to he office right afterwards, I turn on the A/C...now, the interior is stripped for the most part for refurbishment, so the A/C knobs are not on the unit but I turned on the fan and thought I had everything going fine. However, it appeared that light smoke and a funny smell was emitting from the dash vents...I quickly turned the other "Knob"...or where the other knob would go, and it seemed to remedy the problem...

could it be that I inadvertantly turned on the heat? That said, is an old porsche heater like some homes...meaning that it may be burning of dust etc since it has been unused for awhile?

I just don't want it to be an issue and want to nip it before it becomes one. Otherwise, there has been no problem with the car whatsoever.

Thanks,

Rob
