1969 911E

Engine Type: 901/09 for 911E with standard transmission, 901/11 for 911E with Sportomatic transmission.

901/09 911E engine numbers: 6290001 – 6292270.
901/11 911E engine numbers: 6298001 – 6298583.

‘69 911E VIN read 1192Yxxxx where:
11 = 911 model
9 = 1969 Model year
2 = Type 911E
Y = 0 for Porsche coupe
Y = 1 for Targa
Y = 2 for Karmann coupe
xxxx = sequential serial number.

To correct above, there was not a ’68 model 901/09 engine. The engine choices for a ’68 911L were 901/06 (RoW standard transmission), 901/07 (RoW Sportomatic), 901/14 (USA standard transmission) and 901/17 (USA Sportomatic).

The “A” body cars are ’68 model year, the “B” body cars are ’69, '72-'73 are "E", the '73 RS is "F", etc. This is not to be confused with the later MY designation, for example a 1980 model is an "A" year and 1986 model is a "G" year.

Best,
Grady
