We have achieved cult status
"Cult:refers to a cohesive social group devoted to beliefs or practices that the surrounding culture considers outside the mainstream, with a notably positive and popular perception"
Gentlemen,
The "What Happened" thread has officially achieved cult status.
As of 1-8-2007 when Derek started what has become a truely enormous account of all things Mulholland.
We have:
106,375 views with a whopping 1,650 replies with a 5 star rating amongst the 911 Tech Forum. At Le Mans they would refer to this as a 3/1 finish and we are not done yet! (although it's been a little quiet the past weeks)
The stats above do not include the popular "Mulholland Run and Radu's Porsche on the Streets of LA" threads which have branched off. Those stats are simply a number yet reflect something historic.
Close behind is the 3.9 RSR Project thread which began on 1-9-2006:
199,425 views and 1002 replies but only a 4 star rating. Great thread but nothing like our pit.
A story and visual adaptation has been told here of epic proportions found no where else on the internet about our road. A book was written and another one is in process. A lot of input from many directions has culminated here. To many of us here the driver history of Mulholland Drive is important. Both yesterday and today. I am not any of the first but in fact one of the last of the regulars of an era gone by. It is important that the stories have been told and an official record exists because one day we will all be gone. Some of us have a long held attachment to the Drive and wondered if its record may be lost? We know now it will endure in many forms.
My personal thanks to all of the contributors, and visitors of this thread. I have met some good people along the way and shared some good times. I look forward to more. For me it has exceeded my expectations by miles. I have had fun.
A special thanks to the folks at Pelican Parts for sharing a little corner of cyber space on Mulholland Drive.
PS
Derek (lfot) has now clarified via his avatar that it is actually pronounced
"el-eff-oh-tee" which now has me more confused than ever. It's not left foot Chris!!!!!!!!! Thanks Derek for getting this party started which some much needed go-go juice!
We even have a mascot named Bentley. Too cool. Who would have ever thought?
Hope to see you guys soon.....
