Here's the thing: There's zero performance difference between a well sorted diverter valve setup and a well sorted BOV setup. None.
However, with a flapper-type AFM (or even a MAF), there's no way for the ECU to meter accurately when the valve does vent. The purpose of the diverter valve is to ensure that metered air does not escape from the manifold. Unless you're running a MAP sensor based ECU, there's no way to accurately meter for fuel when a BOV vents and you _will_ run rich during those times.
