I suppose they are about 100 years old by now, and the Colorado and Colorado Springs tourist promoters can't bring themselves to really say they're completely fake, but everybody "sort of" knows it. They are a popular movie backdrop, though.

I don't think they are "completely" bogus -- maybe 90% bogus, but not "completely" bogus...
Given that they don't divulge how much of it was "re-created" or "refinished" I assumed that much of it was built upon what "may have once been there..."
Or something like that.
Still pretty cool, in a Hollywood-sort-of-way... and Mesa Verde was an 8-hour trip that I couldn't fit into my short vacation.
At least the Native Indians who gave a short dance presentation where real Indians.... I hope.....
