My fuel pump is going out on my 1984 928. The mechanic said he had eliminated everything electrically during testing.
I am being told that the fuel pump from a 911 would work and does not have to be from a 928. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, Karen
One of the guys from the 911 parts site has a interchange manual on fuel pumps and says an 1980 - 1985 pump will work. This looks like what I need
have a look at this pdf it is the Bosch application guide
http://apps.bosch.com.au/products/saa/efi_crossref.pdf
it lists the 928 as having a 0 580 254 053 the same as the front pump in the turbo and the stock pump in the 80-85 911.
The 0 580 254 053 is listed in the bosch Motorsport Range and the specs are available here

The only two viable alternatives are the cheaper 909 (only flows 148ltr/hr not 175ltr) and the 044 (requires a input fitting adapter.

Thanks, Karen
I was told that it is the flow rate, operating pressure and max capacity that is important when matching a Bosch fuel pump from an interchange chart. I was able to purchase a new pump out of California that matched my car for $160. This was the best deal available including several used pumps.
Thanks for your help, Karen
