I'm sure this announcement will draw the inevitable crap, but I just don't understand. Porsche has continued to build some of the greatest sports cars on earth. If they had the chance, everyone here would turn over their SC or Carrera for a new 997 GT3. Hell, 90% of you would probably trade for a Cayman. The way I see it, I would love to have a Porsche option to choose from. If I'm buying an expensive SUV, I could consider the Cayanne, the fastest and best handling SUV on the market. If I'm considering a sedan, I could consider the Panamera, soon to be one of the fastest and best handling sedans on the planet.

What the hell is the problem? They haven't dilluted their sports cars, they have infused that spirit into other markets. I see that as a good thing.
I agree with Matt, I would love to replace my Grand Cherokee with a Cayanne S as I am sure it is much more fun to drive on a daily basis. About a month ago I went and drove a Boxster S at my local dealer. Porsche still makes some damn fine handling cars, the S even had a very good a/c system. I was very impressed on my drive and have actually put the Carrera up for sale. In a perfect world I would keep my Carrera, have a newer Boxster S as a daily driver and then pull the boat with a Cayanne Turbo or S on the weekends--I just haven't figured out how to pay for all that.
