Get a sword
As many have said, go to the range and check out several to see what suits you best. I prefer Sigs and Walthers...and Japanese swords.
As for revlovers, when they fail, and they do, you pretty much need to get a time out with the BG to clear it. Maybe it is my bad sample set but I have seen more revlovers fail than Autos in IDPA matches.
