I'm thinking about dragging the wife and 7 year old daughter to Ireland a day or 2 after xmas for 7 days or so, just to get away and see Ireland.

I think we'll fly into stansted so we can take advantage of eos or maxjet, then ryanair to shannon. After that, the itinerary is all open. I was thinking of somewhere around the cliffs of moher to start since it's close to shannon.

Are we nuts going this time of year? I know some things won't be open and it will be cold and wet but we just want to get away, read, sit in front of a fire, and experience the locals. So I'm thinking old b&b's, lowish budget, villages, etc. rather than swankage.

Any input and itinerary suggestions?
