Well, the reason it matters to me is: If you race SCCA Improved Touring, you must have in your possession a copy of the factory service manual. It must be presented on demand. You are responsible for documenting the legality of the car's specs, not the tech guys. No problem with my Sentra, I found a copy of the single volumn Nissan manual. I have it, along with both the Haynes and Clymer manuals in a box with all the rest of the race gear. Always ready when Tech demands to see the book. Never happened, but still ready.
The 914 seems to be a beast of another multi-volumn color. What is the total count of binders, 10 or so? I am expected to lug around 10 binders awaiting the call from tech. Right!
The SCCA GCR does not specify format for the manual. Fiche or CD would be fine for me. Not my fault the tech shed is lacking a fiche reader. Most paddocks can scare up at least one laptop with a CD drive, so that seems to be no problem.
Anyway, the fiche or CD format manual seemed to be exactly what I need. Now to find one. But a parts department listing won't be adequate.
