Here is something that I like, it is titled "Hillside Hotel 1961" It is the Cheateau Marmont in Hollywood. It was painted by Ron Blumberg. While his Gallery prices are through the roof, he doesn't have the auction records to support those prices on the open market.
Blumberg started painting in the Modernist style in NYC in the late 30s, during the 50s he moved to LA area and experimented with Abstract Expressionism. By the late 50s he settled into doing Expressionist CA Landscapes, done with the heavy use of the pallet knife. He passed away in 2002 or so.
When I saw this I knew it was very good, but didn't buy it at the auction that day. An aquaintence did and later offered it to me for a coupla hundred over what he paid for it.
