Take it and have a blast!
My honeymoon in 2005 was a 10 day 3,800 mile road trip from Socal. up through Vegas, Utah, Wyoming, to Yellowstone NP. Then from Montana up through the Dakotas and back down through Wyoming, Colorado, New mexico, Arizona and back to CA.
No AC. We went in late May, weather was great!
My '81 SC is a daily driver with 270,000 on the clock. I just took some extra tools and went for it. Didn't have any problems.
I bought the car in 2001 so I had had it long enough to have some idea about its running history and any weird problems /temperments.
My wife and I loved the funny and curious looks from other motorists. Great looks of amazement when driving on dirt roads or through the pouring rain. We saw about 5-6 other Porsches on the road through the whole trip! My favorite was an older couple driving an Irish Green 356 we passed on the road into Yellowstone. I think they were as surprised to see us as we were them.
