If your wife appreciates your 911 and thinks it is fun, take it. Keeping a low mile 911 SC would have NO appeal whatsoever for me. That would be like marrying a super model and practicing abstinence. I have 170,000 miles on my 87 Carrera and do not hesitate taking it on 1,000+ mile trips. There is a special sense of accomplishment, adventure and a bond forms when your 20+ year old sports car can take you on a long trip.
Finally, I read a very wise post some years ago on this Forum that explained the fact that a car basically will age, degenerate, and need repair at the same rate whether it is sitting in a garage or it is driven. In most cases, regular driving keeps a car in better shape than letting it sit.
DRIVE THAT DAMN CAR. Porsche 911's are all about dynamic performance. They are not static displays.
