Mark, a good suggestion has come up recently - when you have the PPI done, have the daytime running lights installed and the speedo switched right then and there, assuming the car passes the PPI satisfactorily. The speedo switch is just a matter of turning holding a little dial on the dashboard to the left for 6 seconds, so I'm sure there'd be no charge for that. As far as I understand, The DRLs on a 986/996-based boxster/911 needs only a wiring hack, which cost me about $60 locally.
