Normally I'd agree, but this was just a couple of months and they went to great pains in claiming it "had to be that expensive". Considering wholesale cost on these is(was) likely $150 or $200 I find it hard to buy that 60-90 days resulted in a 50% cost reduction. It's not really that big of a deal, but they do look bad on this which is the only reason for the rebate.
