Fact is - there are some very, very efficient gasoline powered cars now on the market. BMWs get very good mileage for their high-powered engines. Plus, there's diesel. All this amounts to is good engineering.

But in CA. the environment and environmental lobbyists are the deciding voices. Of course, that doesn't prevent Cal-Trans from implementing wider freeways...
