I didn't read everyone's responses here before responding, if I am duplicating (I hope I am!) then add me to the crowd that advises, GET THE COLONOSCOPY!
Quit yer, worrying, being chicken or homophobic, or whatever your hang up is and get this done for your loved ones if nothing else.
I had one about two months ago. By far, the worst part of it is drinking the lousy soapy crap you have to drink to clean you out. The process? I knew/felt NOTHING. Not a thing. They rolled me in, put the drug - whatever it was in the intravenous and I said, "...how long does it take to work?" Never heard the answer. Next thing I know, they are calling my name and I am waking up. No irritation, no nothing. Went and had a light lunch. No polyps = peace of mind. IF there HAD been polyps, they take care of it and presto - peace of mind.
