I am, as most of us here are, big car guys. I dont care what make you came from or what side of the pond you call home, if a car is good and good fun...then im sold.
For the past couple years I have had reservations on Lamborghini's ability to build a car that could live up to their name. Generations of these cars have stood for hookers, coke, and the highest degree of expressive design. Recently their cars have found themselves romancing the Audi breed in helping to modernize the companies technologies. This in turn created a wicked good car with relentless speed and greatly improved overall quality and ability; save one aspect. While Audi sells great quality and smooth performance they are, if we can agree, on the conservative end of car design. Though I must admit I am a fan of Audi styling, it really clashes with the old school Lamborghini ideal of creating a car that would turn heads as fast as it turns out "petrol". Dont get me wrong, I still get a little twitchy when I see a top dropping Murciélago rubble by me downtown because they are absolutely beautiful cars.
I didnt know when I started looking at the pictures of the car I would actually have the reaction I did, I guess I just wasnt expecting myself to find it so attractive. I see it as the 2008 version of the Countach, a true italian "hoorah!" and a general reclamation of lost identity. In my opinion its what Lamborghini has been missing for years and hopefully beckon a full volume "welcome back" for their styling.
What's your take on it?
