In baseball, reading the coaches signals has been part of the game as long as I can remember. That's why the coaches give so many complicated signals, so the other team can't read them. They also change the signals during the course of the game. |
Really? You think every team in the NFL sends people over to the other side of the field with a videocamera to tape the other teams conferences and signals?
If they do, they are breaking an express rule:
"Former Jets quarterback Boomer Esiason said the NFL circulated a memo last September warning of severe penalties for videotaping other teams' signals."
Of course you can look across the field and try to see signals being given, in football or baseball. That's fair, part of the game, and most important, not against the rules. But what they were doing was different, and was expressly against the rules.
