I wish to publicly thank Hugh for his offering a ticket that wasn't going to be used. As it turns out, he had a couple more when I got there. Funny story about this: I called him cell to cell upon arrival and told him what I was wearing. I walked in from the parking with another gentleman who was wearing almost exactly the same green shirt and long tan pants. We were both hanging out near the will call ticket booth when I asked this guy if he was looking for Hugh R.
He was!! So there we were, the Bobbsey twins waiting for our host. When Hugh reached us, he gave us each a 2nd ticket and said do whatever you want with it. (So, you see, Jeff, you should have called and gone with me!) I gave mine to the next guy in line (who looked re markedly like Chip Foose. I even told him so. He was with his son and I like that, take your boy out to see some cars).
Hugh was very, very busy as a judge in the Jaguar section, particularly the XKE's. 2 hours later, he and his committee were still pouring over the cars and I really couldn't interrupt. So, I excused myself and moved on. These guys work hard at this judging stuff, I can tell you that. Better not have a single light not work!
The concours was stellar, but this was not a year for Porsche. None on the green. The dealer display including the Turbo cab was good. The rest was outstanding and Shelby cars (and the man himself) were a focus. You folks have to make this a destination next year. Get there early, it's been discovered.
It's for a very good charitable cause, as well.
