"Remember the "hidden fuel" issue with Honda. They were stripped of points and excluded from several races. Ferrari was simply told to cease and desist as a result of the movable floor. The movable rear wing employed by Ferrari moved with respect to its angle of attack which altered the drag and downforce. Again, no penalty for Ferrari. They simply had to stop using it. The McLaren wing simply moved up and down with no change in angle of attack. It was looked at and deemed to be compliant.
Lastly, the teams care more about the Constructors Championship. Stripping McLaren of their series points accomplished what the WMSC wanted. To eliminate Alonso or Hamilton would simply be peeing in their own bath water.
I suggest you look a little closer."
I complely concur. When you look a the members of the FIA "World Council" there are at least five or six members who have voted in Ferrari's interest no matter what. One of their former Directors, the head of the Italian motorsports council, Mosley (does anyone think he likes Ron Dennis?) oh and some guy named Jean Todt. This is anything but an independent body. And they know better than anyone what would have happened had they ruled consistently and stripped the drivers of even a few of their points. Better to hand the Constructor's championship to Ferrari, line their pockets with a cool 100 mil and (just to rub it in) let Ferrari look over their FY08 car too. An inconsistent and stupidly Draconian penalty in my view.
BTW I voted Alonso. But I'd much rather see Massa take it.
