Just an idea, take the 210 (Foothill Fwy) east a couple of miles to Old Town Pasadena.

Any number of fine restaurants there. I don't know if its truly "five star" or not but for a romantic, very nice dinner try Cafe San Torini right in the middle of Old Town. Ask for an outside table. It is a roof top environment, twinkly lights, flowers and great food if you like Italian. Your wife will love it.
