He's not a liberal. Very conservative, suit-and-tie executive Republican type. Big business owner. SUV driver, etc., etc.
He decided to do the right thing and teach the guy a lesson where it hurts...in his wallet. Had the guy not sucker-punched him, for no reason at all, it most likely would've ended up as a typical bar brawl. He was pizzed the way the guy handled it and decided right away how he would end it.
