Thanks to all that responded.
FWIW, I found that a hair drier and a razor blade work best to remove the old emblems.
Now the only concern is that the paint underneath the clear section of the emblem is somewhat purple compaired to the rest of the orginal Malaga Red paint.... In time, this should go away.
