I don't know how they come off of an older Grand, on a 99-04 you loosen a screw on the top and pull like hell and they will pop off. If you don't get any answers here go to

You can order the factory service manual for the Jeeps from Chrysler, they are a great resource and are not very expensive. Go to Tech Authority's site and order the book as the CD's will not run with Windows XP--they forget to mention that when you order it.
