So I am taking the plunge and will be buying my 1993 911 near New York City. I want to fly down to pick up the car and drive it home to Ottawa. Three questions:

1) What do I need to do to avoid paying the NY Sales Tax?
2) Am I better off using a 10 day trip permit from the Ontario DOT or a 30 day temporary permit from the NY DMV?
3) Anybody have experience bringing a car across at Alexandria Bay, NY?
