Mark, Congratulations! I get mine on Oct 6 in GA. I am going to use the in-transit tag from the dealer selling me the car. Since I am from outside of GA (and U.S.) I do not pay any taxes. What I suggest you do is call the DMV in New York State and verify with them the costs. They will most likely tell you that you will have to get the "In-transit tag" from a notary (if this is a private sale). And I would also call the U.S. border crossing to see if you can just fax the paperwork 3 days ahead of time. I called the Champlain, NY border crossing and they want the actual Title and copy of the sales receipt. So I am having the dealer courier the documents to them. Plus they told me that they are not open on weekends. So I will bring the car across on our holiday Monday.
The price is right at this time. If the Canadian dollar keeps going up, your car keeps getting cheaper.
