I don't follow the market closely, but I don't think there is anything unusual or precipitous going on, other than the usual decline in the Fall. The market for used bikes is exceptionally soft in August and September each and every year.
In fact, the market on the S bike has been bottomed out at about $5K-$8K for the past couple years. My bike was sorth $6K two years ago and I suspect it's worth that now.
GS's and RT's have always been better performers on the used market. The S is a tough sell to the sport bike market and people who think touring think GS and RT.
