I haven't had any issues (knock wood) with the system in the iX, and yes, I'm apprehensive about the electronics complexity. Maybe call Nissan dealer and ask if there's a factory option that can be installed as a plug-and-play system, retrofit?
That'd be expen$ive, no doubt, but it'd be Nissan parts...
