Hooking up a 220V baseboard heater (yep, already sounds bad)
Check the breaker, check the wire with a line tester: No juice. Start to pull the wires through the heater side, LIGHTSHOW, sparks, noise, smoke, uncontrolled welding
Wrong breaker, line tester was bad.
