I turned into a genuine Porsche class nut case with my 83, parked it by itself in distant corners of parking lots, walked around it every time I came back, and it was hit in the first 90 days I owned it. Some guy in a pickup tried to squeeze in next to Mecedes, then backed up across the parking lot in a huge slow sloppy turn into my passenger side rear quarter panel.
A lot of damage is random. And its not the damage, its the consequences of even minor damage. I am still fussing over details and my car was hit in January. Matching the paint, pulling trim and windows to get the clear coat done right, parts NLA, and the knowledge that despite my best efforts its not going to be equal to the factory paint.
Fragile value.
