follow up on Ebay Porsche
Kurt's Post is correct. I heard about his 912 being used in the movie earlier this year from Tim Berardelli who built both the original and current motors for the car. Since the Ebay seller "Premier Props" has actually now sold the car they been reported to both Ebay and FBI for consumer fraud. Although their Porsche was one of 4 used in the movie it was not driven by Robert Redford and is not the "Only One" as they have tried to claim.
Additional car history: I did a ground-up rolling chassis restoration for Tim and then purchased it to finish it up for myself. After 2 years of restoration I got to drive it for a grand total of 15 minutes after it was purchased by Kurt. It has become a beautiful example of a 69 912 under his care and attention to detail. A car not to be taken lightly on the track. The car has been seen on the track at Summit Point years, ago driven by Dick Naublaud (pardon the spelling) prior to Tim's owning it. Credit goes to Performance Auto Crafters (Barney Squires) of VA for the final 2 stage urethane paint job.
