Wings over Houston air show
Worked the airshow all day today...from 6-6(whew what a long day) Got to see some beautiful planes and learned a lot of history. This was my first air show and I absolutely LOVED it. Everything from the P-51 to the F-15, P-38(glacier girl), random mig, B-17, and the Canadian Snow Birds. Loved the show every last minute of it.
Notes of interest:
My late Grandpa was a tail gunner in the B-17 in the great WWII. This was the first time in my life I have actually had a chance to see where he spent so much time serving our country.
The 'attack of Pearl Harbor' with I believe real Zero's was truly amazing. LOTS of pyrothecnics and LOTS of vintage warbirds. There must of been 15 planes in the air during the 'attack.'
And last but certainly not least the Canadian Snow Birds. This was the first time I have ever seen a major formation flight. And wow was it beautiful. At first I was dissappointed I wasn't going to see the Navy's Blue Angels or the Air Forces Thundercats, but the Snow Birds really impressed me. Got to chat with the crew afterwards. Great guys and magnificent pilots.
I have never met a mean pilot. Ever. Every pilot there was giving tours of his/her respected aircraft. Even the NASA guys with whom I am familiar with had the astronauts giving personal tours of their own T-38 Talons.
This won't be my last one!
