The new camera market has a lot of planned obsolescence built into it. I have a pocket digital camera as well, but wouldn't spend big bucks on a digital SLR.

Try the new Leica's. My Digilux 2 is wonderful and the M8 is even better. Expensive? Yea but are you going to take it all with you? Enjoy it while here...
